CURRENT PROJECT

Project Location & FTZ developer

The State Government of Akwa Ibom is developing the IIC as part of its wider Industrialization Programme. The IIC will be a modern industrial zone project fully integrated with a new Deep Sea Port that will provide a new gateway for trade and investment in SE Nigeria and the wider region. The project will harness its strategic location on the Gulf of Guinea close to major shipping routes and a large hinterland population in neighboring landlocked states.

The project site is situated in an approximately 14,500 ha of land within the IIC in Akwa Ibom State in the south-east of Nigeria, and connected to a new deep sea port of 2,565 ha that will be planned within the industrial city extents. The Port and Industrial Zone are separate projects although are expected to be mutually dependent in achieving the long-term vision for this location.

The proposed project would ensure the utilization of Methanol and it’s derivatives in Nigeria in order to kick-start a Chemical Industrialization. The Project will contribute to creating jobs as well as being an important milestone for the chemical industry in Nigeria. Formaldehyde has been identified as one of the key enablers to unlock various chemical industries with various applications of their products as the demand in Nigeria increases.
